Whatever you can dream. Begin it.

If you look at the classic, mythical literature of the hero’s journey, the hero has to leave home. We leave the familiar past, we leave that which we’re used to, which we’re comfortable with, and in search of something bigger, which is ultimately the full expression of our self. It's the awareness that we’re bigger than we thought we were.

What matters, the great myths tell us, is that you take the journey, because it’s in the journey that you discover what even the most devout faith cannot reveal. Even the most powerful heroes, shamans and spiritual leaders of all ages could not forego this passage.

As you take this walk you will learn to give up your attachment to your personal limitations, your idiosyncrasies and fears, and no longer resist, in Joseph Campbell’s words, “the self-annihilation that is prerequisite to rebirth”.

“We have not even to risk the adventure alone, for the heroes of all time have gone before us. The labyrinth is thoroughly known. We have only to follow the thread of the hero path. And where we had thought to find an abomination, we shall find a God. And where we had thought to slay another, we shall slay ourselves. And where we had thought to travel outward, we shall come to the center of our own existence. And where we had thought to be alone, we shall be with all the world.” Joseph Campbell.

The idea of real success is one you have to cultivate in yourself.

Most of us think that success in life is about amassing things. It’s not about amassing things, it’s not about becoming wealthy. That’s part of the game and we want to play it, but we’re playing it for a higher purpose. And the higher purpose is to gain mastery in life. And we gain mastery when we learn wisdom and when we can become more loving.

You have to become a different person. You have to think in a different way. You have to escalate your thinking, you have to escalate your character. You have to develop very specific success characteristics that most people don’t have. You have to develop your persistence, develop your determination, you have to develop your courage, you have to be willing to act in spite of fear.

Everybody’s been taught to ask for what they think they can achieve based on their current circumstances. Well, when we’re living with such an abundant universe, our world is our oyster. Everything is what we can have. We have to be open to the possibilities that everything we want is right here. It’s right here, right now. And we all have access to it. And our thinking makes it so.

My heart’s quest is for a full and total awakening, to be absolutely awake to the essence of who we are, the truth of who we are which is love. That’s my heart’s quest. Ultimately, I think that’s everyone’s heart’s quest.

I have had the great privilege of being in the company of so many people who have had that faith and that courage, not always readily available, but eventually found the faith to taste what they had to work with, to live one more day, to go one more step, to deepen a little. To grow, even in the face of terrible anguish and adversity.

So the questions are, who am I? What do I love? How do I live knowing that I will die?  And what is my gift to the family of the earth? And I think we all have these questions bubble up in us from time to time, most especially when we're given some kind of sorrow or terrible confusing event that shakes us out of ordinary time. And we find ourselves wondering how did I get here? Where do I go from here? What does it mean to be alive?

How do we bear the burden of our lives gracefully. How do we suffer our lives gracefully? How do we enjoy our lives gracefully? Those questions have always been at the heart of the quest for a spiritual discipline.

What I’ve had to overcome, and it’s not over yet, it’s a constant process, is self-doubt. I think we're just afraid. Every spiritual teacher talks about fear as one of the most potent enzymes that gets in the way of our joy and our love and our liberation.

Every single person has challenges. And it’s not the challenges that matter, it’s what you do about the challenges. If the world on the outside is guiding you, then you can become a sheep, and you miss the truth.

People quit in almost every case. They give up on their dream. They think that, you know, if they haven’t achieved it quick enough. They’re also afraid of failure, afraid to keep going. Failures are your greatest teachers. The greatest learning exercise comes from failure. You learn from struggle. You’re only a failure when you quit.

If you want to change your life, question any fear that would keep you from living the life that you would want to live. And what’s to stop you from living it at that point. If you question what you believe. What could possibly stop you?

No matter what you’re calling in life, wealth, essentially, is what you’re after. The question then is how do you define real wealth? As one of our experts put it, “Most people think wealth is just money. And money is a wonderful thing, but the real goal is to have the full plume of your human imagination 360 degrees. Be family rich, be socially rich, be spiritually rich, be financially rich, and be emotionally rich”.

You do have the power to create the life of your dreams. Time is short. Energy is short. Do it. It’s now or never.

Embark on a Quest. Turn your dreams into reality.

It’s time for a new beginning. We’ve got to start changing now.

Anyone can make such an awesome difference with their lives. The world is waiting for us. It’s time to show up, and it’s time to show with everything we’ve got that’s natural to who we are.

We have a big role to play in waking up humanity including ourselves.

So my vision is a thriving sustainable equitable way of life on earth for all species and all human beings, and I know that it is possible, and I know that it can happen in my lifetime and I will work every day to bring that to reality.

Ultimately, it's about learning to break through the old conditioning, to give up the old story,  to fully realize the most profound aspects of living the life of your dreams. What, after all, is the mid-life crisis, change-of-life scenario all about but waking up one day terrified that you're on the wrong path, that you missed the boat, and you will never reach the horizon of your true genius.

So many of us have stopped imagining our lives with any sort of romance, any fictional flair. This is the sense of urgency and excitement with which we must infuse our lives, this clarion call to action, to wake up, to re-discover the passionate sense of what you must do in life.

Who can wait any longer? Already the fire rages in the belly. Take that fatal step. You’re on the hero’s journey. There is no turning back. This path is not for everyone. But it does ultimately provide infinite freedom. Immeasurable joy.

It’s a one step program. One step onto the path. The journey beckons. It burns like a fire in the belly. I invite you to embark on your Quest.

It is time for each of us  to re-emerge as the heroes and heroines, of our own story.
